Technical Lead

About the role

We are looking for a Technical Lead to join Telia’s Technology team and drive the evolution of our Digital Services & Channels platform. In this role you will provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, shaping architecture, improving reliability and guiding the platform’s long-term direction.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical architecture of a large-scale distributed backend platform.
• Design scalable, resilient and maintainable systems using Java and cloud-native principles.
• Lead architectural decisions, solve complex production and performance issues, and improve observability, security and developer experience.
• Partner with engineering, product and management teams to reduce technical debt and balance sustainability with delivery.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, technical discussions and hands-on collaboration.

Required profile

• Experienced software engineer with a passion for building and modernising large-scale backend systems.
• Proven track record of influencing technical direction across multiple teams.
• Ability to make pragmatic trade-offs while maintaining high engineering standards.
