Chief Accountant

About the role

Mogo Lithuania, part of the Eleving Group FinTech network, is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to own the full accounting function in Lithuania. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will combine deep technical accounting expertise with a strategic business perspective.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the company’s accounting function, ensuring accurate, complete and timely financial records.
• Lead monthly, quarterly and year‑end closing processes, meeting deadlines and Group reporting requirements.
• Prepare and review statutory financial statements and other required reports.
• Ensure compliance with Lithuanian accounting standards, IFRS, tax legislation and internal Group policies.
• Oversee tax accounting and reporting, including VAT, corporate income tax and other applicable taxes.
• Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations: accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger and fixed assets.
• Maintain strong financial controls and continuously improve accounting processes.
• Coordinate annual audits and act as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Collaborate with tax authorities, regulators and other external stakeholders as needed.
• Provide accounting and financial expertise to support business decisions alongside the CEO and management team.
• Lead, support and develop the accounting team, fostering high professional standards.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement of accounting and finance processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience, including senior roles such as Chief Accountant or Deputy Chief Accountant.
• Strong knowledge of Lithuanian accounting and tax legislation.
• Practical experience with IFRS and preparation of statutory financial statements.
• Proven track record managing external audits.
• Deep understanding of month‑end and year‑end closing, reconciliations and financial controls.
• Experience leading and developing an accounting team.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to see the broader business context.
• High level of ownership and ability to work independently.
