Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a curious and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our mechanical design team. You will contribute to the design and development of nano‑ and micro‑satellites as well as their mechanical subsystems, supporting both R&D and production activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support business development with preliminary satellite‑level and subsystem layout and feasibility studies.
• Design and develop satellites and their mechanical subsystems, including static and dynamic parts and mechanisms.
• Prepare CAD geometry for FEA by defeaturing models and assist simulation engineers.
• Participate in design reviews, present work, and incorporate feedback from colleagues and customers.
• Create manufacturing drawings, coordinate with external suppliers, and oversee production.
• Perform quick structural and thermal calculations to justify design decisions.
• Design testing equipment for satellites and subsystems, process raw test data, analyse results, write test reports, and manage test documentation.

Required profile

• Passion for space engineering and a strong desire to learn quickly.
• A degree in mechanical, mechatronics, aerospace engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Good understanding of machine elements, materials, manufacturing technology, mechanics of materials, structures, heat transfer, thermodynamics and dynamic loads.
• At least 2 years of experience in 3D modelling with SolidWorks or an equivalent CAD tool.
• Experience creating 2D engineering drawings and solid knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Hands‑on skills with measurement, inspection and assembly tools.
• Proficiency in English (minimum B1 level).
