Multilingual Interpreter (Various Languages)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a skilled interpreter to provide accurate, impartial, and confidential language support for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and their service providers. The role involves both in‑person and remote interpretation across a variety of settings, helping refugees and immigrants access essential services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver interpretation services in clinics, hospitals, schools, community organizations, and government agencies, using in‑person, telephone, video‑conference, or other virtual platforms.
• Record assignments and work hours in the designated tracking software.
• Participate in trainings, assessments, and occasional special projects.
• Maintain confidentiality and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.

Required profile

• Interpretation certification (required).
• Minimum one year of professional interpretation experience, preferably with refugee or immigrant populations.
• High school diploma (preferred) and formal education in linguistics or related field (preferred).
• Fluency in English and at least one of the listed languages (e.g., Spanish, French, Burmese, Swahili, Arabic, etc.).

Required skills

• Proficiency with basic computer applications, especially Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Reliable transportation to reach appointment locations.
