Senior Software Engineer (Java)

About the role

Join Luminor's Payments engineering team as a Senior Software Engineer. You will design and build secure, reliable, and scalable backend services that support the full customer payment journey across the Baltics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java and Spring Boot micro‑services.
• Build secure REST APIs and event‑driven integrations using Apache Kafka.
• Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions, applying domain‑driven design and event‑driven patterns.
• Own solutions throughout their lifecycle, from implementation to production support.
• Apply Luminor’s engineering, security, and quality best practices.
• Improve automated testing, observability, and production readiness.
• Review code and technical designs, sharing knowledge with peers.
• Leverage AI‑assisted engineering tools across design, development, testing, and documentation.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects, business stakeholders, and platform teams.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with Java (25+) and Spring Boot (4+).
• Proven experience designing distributed, event‑driven, high‑volume transactional systems.
• Deep understanding of microservices, APIs, and integration patterns.
• Ability to evaluate options, explain trade‑offs, and make pragmatic design decisions.
• Experience with Apache Kafka or comparable messaging technologies.
• Practical cloud experience, preferably AWS.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and transaction consistency.
