Software Engineering Manager, Android Platform

About the role

Unity is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the team delivering Unity platform support for Android‑based devices, from mobile to laptop form‑factors. The role combines technical leadership with people management to drive performance, innovation, and AI‑enabled workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Own and drive near‑term execution and technical strategy for the Android platform team.
• Collaborate internally with core Unity engine, platform, and graphics teams.
• Communicate the team’s vision and progress both internally and externally.
• Foster a high‑performance, supportive culture by mentoring, coaching, and guiding professional development.

Required profile

• Experience developing and managing a high‑performance software engineering team.
• Proven technical knowledge of Android platform technology across native C/C++, Java and Kotlin layers.
• Success collaborating with internal product owners and external partners on benchmarks, specifications and interdependencies.
• Expertise as a software engineer with familiarity in C++, C# and Java.
• Ability to understand and assimilate a large, complex software product.

Required skills

• Familiarity with real‑time 3D rendering techniques and graphics APIs such as Vulkan.
• Experience leading remote teams using Agile development methodologies.
• Understanding of AI workflows in software development.
