Staff Software Engineer – Booking Integrations

About the role

Join a fast‑scaling travel‑tech startup that has already achieved strong product‑market fit. As a Staff Software Engineer you will work directly with the founder and early team, designing and delivering integrations with third‑party booking systems while shaping the product architecture as the company grows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and own integrations with suppliers, booking platforms and partner APIs (REST/OAuth, SOAP, legacy services).
• Architect webhook ingestion and worker‑queue infrastructure to keep bookings, availability and status updates flowing reliably at scale.
• Design scalable PostgreSQL schemas in Supabase that model complex booking data.
• Create sandbox and testing environments, load‑test services and harden them before production release.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, retries, idempotency and graceful handling of flaky third‑party systems.
• Set engineering standards, patterns and practices for future team members.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with deep experience in authentication & identity and backend development (PostgreSQL, PHP/Laravel, Node.js/TypeScript).
• Expert knowledge of API authentication methods (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SOAP WS‑Security, API keys, HMAC, JWT, mutual TLS).
• Proven experience designing secure, scalable webhook systems and asynchronous job processing (AWS SQS, Temporal or equivalent).
• Hands‑on experience integrating with poorly documented or legacy third‑party APIs.
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders in an agile environment.
