Staff Software Engineer (Booking Integrations)

About the role

We are looking for a senior‑level engineer to design, build and own integrations with third‑party booking systems for a fast‑growing travel‑tech startup. You will work directly with the founder and early team, shaping the product as it scales.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain integrations with suppliers, booking platforms and partner APIs (REST/OAuth, SOAP, legacy services).
• Architect webhook ingestion and worker‑queue infrastructure to keep bookings, availability and status updates reliable at scale.
• Define and implement database schemas in Supabase (PostgreSQL) for complex booking data.
• Create sandbox and testing environments, load‑test services and harden them before production.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, retries, idempotency and graceful handling of flaky third‑party systems.
• Ensure secure handling of credentials, tokens and traveler data across all integrations.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with deep experience in authentication, identity and backend development.
• Proven ability to design secure, scalable webhook systems and asynchronous job processing (AWS SQS, Temporal or equivalent).
• Hands‑on experience integrating with poorly documented or legacy APIs and building abstraction layers.
• Comfortable working in an agile, collaborative environment and communicating with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• TypeScript (primary development language).
• Supabase / PostgreSQL.
• PHP/Laravel or Node.js.
• OAuth 2.0 (authorization code, client credentials, PKCE, refresh‑token rotation) and OIDC.
• SOAP, WS‑Security, XML signatures, certificate‑based authentication.
• REST API authentication patterns: API keys, HMAC, JWT, mutual TLS.
• Webhook security: signature verification, idempotency, replay protection, rate limiting.
• Asynchronous processing with AWS SQS, Temporal or similar queue systems.
• Secure credential storage, encryption and rotation.
• Observability tools such as Datadog.
