Android Engineer – Payment Terminal Platform

About the role
Wallee Group is seeking an experienced Android Engineer to join its payment terminal engineering team in Vilnius. You will work on the Android‑based platform that powers secure payment processing on physical terminals, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, security‑critical software.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Android applications and components running on dedicated payment terminals.
- Integrate Android modules with payment applications, device services, hardware interfaces, APIs and communication protocols.
- Implement and troubleshoot transaction flows where correctness, stability and predictability are essential.
- Handle security‑sensitive operations involving TLS, certificates, cryptographic keys and PCI compliance.
- Investigate issues across the Android platform, device, network and payment protocol layers.
- Review code, improve architecture, write automated tests and maintain a clean codebase.
- Collaborate with product, QA, certification and other engineering teams to turn payment requirements into production‑ready solutions.
Required profile
- Strong professional experience developing Android software using Kotlin and Java.
- Good understanding of Android architecture, services, lifecycle, IPC, threading, networking and debugging.
- Solid engineering fundamentals for designing maintainable software and troubleshooting production issues.
- Practical knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP and TLS networking concepts.
- Security mindset with familiarity of encryption, certificates, symmetric/asymmetric cryptography, hashing and secure data handling.
- Fluent English communication skills for an international engineering environment.
