About the role
We are looking for an experienced AWS Data Engineer to join the development of our IoT Insurance Data Platform (IDP). In this role you will design, build, and optimise scalable, cloud‑native data solutions that power analytics, data products and machine‑learning use cases in an industrial IoT and insurance environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement and operate scalable, cloud‑native data pipelines and platform components on AWS.
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT workflows, data lakes and data‑mesh components using AWS Glue, Lake Formation and related services.
- Develop, optimise and troubleshoot PySpark jobs for large‑scale and time‑series datasets.
- Manage data schemas, tables, permissions and metadata via AWS Glue Data Catalog and Lake Formation.
- Support event‑driven architectures with AWS Lambda, SNS, SQS and Step Functions.
- Integrate internal and external systems through APIs using AWS API Gateway.
- Monitor platform health and performance with Amazon CloudWatch and ensure cost‑effective processing.
- Contribute to Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
Required profile
- Strong hands‑on experience with core AWS services (Glue, Lake Formation, Lambda, S3, Athena, Step Functions, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS).
- Proven experience designing, building and operating ETL/ELT pipelines in a cloud environment.
- Solid expertise with Spark and PySpark for distributed data processing.
- Experience with modern data formats such as Apache Iceberg and Parquet.
- Ability to work in cross‑functional Agile (Scrum) teams and deliver production‑grade, scalable solutions.
