CBRN Specialist – AI Content Reviewer (Remote, Hourly)
SME Careers
Job description
About the role
This hourly, remote contractor position involves acting as a CBRN Subject‑Matter Expert to review and create AI‑generated content on chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear safety topics. You will ensure that model responses are technically accurate, safe, and aligned with public‑safety policies while providing clear written feedback.
Key responsibilities
- Evaluate AI‑generated answers on CBRN, hazardous‑material, emergency‑preparedness and public‑safety subjects for technical correctness, safety framing and guideline compliance.
- Flag outputs that contain dangerous procedural details, weaponisation guidance, unsafe lab instructions or misleading risk statements.
- Develop gold‑standard reference examples that answer benign CBRN queries responsibly without providing hazardous instructions.
- Rank model outputs based on safe handling, accurate risk assessment, appropriate refusals and helpful redirection.
- Detect hallucinated claims, incorrect hazard classifications, over‑confident conclusions and unsafe recommendations.
- Apply project rubrics consistently and provide detailed written feedback explaining safety, completeness and technical issues.
- Escalate ambiguous or high‑risk content for additional review according to project guidelines.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Public Health, Toxicology, Nuclear Engineering, Radiation Science, Emergency Management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum C1 proficiency in English and 3+ years of professional experience in CBRN safety, emergency preparedness, hazardous‑materials handling, biosafety, radiation safety or related disciplines.
- Strong understanding of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazard categories, risk assessment, protective measures, emergency communication and public‑safety principles.
- Ability to identify unsafe instructions, operationally enabling details and inaccurate technical claims in AI outputs.
- Familiarity with safety frameworks, biosafety levels, hazardous‑material communication, radiation protection, decontamination and incident reporting is preferred.
- Reliable, self‑directed and able to deliver consistent quality in a remote, hourly workflow across time zones.
