Chemist – Lipids and Transfection Reagents Manufacturing

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Chemist to join the Lipids and Transfection Reagents Manufacturing team. You will work at the interface of research and production, supporting process optimisation, technology transfer and continuous improvement to ensure reliable manufacturing of therapeutic and diagnostic products.

Key responsibilities

• Synthesize lipids using organic synthesis techniques and perform chromatographic purification.
• Monitor and order raw material inventory, ensuring timely availability.
• Maintain equipment, record malfunctions and update the E1 system with manufacturing data.
• Prepare and update technological documentation accurately and on schedule.
• Collaborate with R&D colleagues to develop and improve product technologies.
• Participate in production process validation, risk assessment and root‑cause analysis activities.
• Provide suggestions for departmental process improvements and train team members as needed.

Required profile

• University degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific field.
• Minimum one year of laboratory experience, including organic synthesis and chromatographic purification.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Experience with inventory management systems (e.g., E1) is a plus.
• Understanding of safe handling of hazardous chemicals and working in a controlled environment.
