Commissioning Engineer – PLC Systems

About the role

The Commissioning Engineer joins TGW’s North Europe Controls Team, based in Lithuania, to deliver automated material‑handling projects across Northern Europe and globally. The role combines PLC software development, system emulation, and full‑scale commissioning of warehouse control and management solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Commissioning Engineer with third‑party interface documentation during the pre‑site phase.
• Develop functional design specifications and generate PLC module lists.
• Write and version‑control PLC code using TGW standard tools (TIA Portal, Siemens PLCs).
• Conduct PLC and subsystem emulation, then full commissioning, including manual/automatic control, WMS communication, and emergency‑stop testing.
• Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, electrical, and mechanical faults.
• Collaborate with Systems Integration Testers, Managers, and Project Managers to verify functionality and performance.
• Maintain daily stand‑ups, update check‑sheets, and ensure compliance with TGW processes and health‑safety regulations.
• Mentor Junior Commissioning Engineers and contribute to best‑practice development.

Required profile

• Higher education in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience generating PLC code, preferably on Siemens platforms.
• Strong knowledge of control systems, networking, fieldbus technologies (Profibus, Profinet, AS‑i) and motion control (inverters, servo drives).
• Excellent fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 80% of the time.
• Good knowledge of TIA Portal and version‑control practices.
