Controls Software Engineer

About the role

Dematic is seeking a Controls Software Engineer to join its Lithuanian team, focusing on PLC, HMI and SCADA software design, emulation, testing and commissioning for automated warehouse and material handling systems. The role combines office‑based development with on‑site project delivery and includes international travel.

Key responsibilities

• Produce, emulate and test PLC software and visualization systems.
• Interpret electrical schematics and design input information.
• Lead controls engineering activities, provide technical guidance and ensure safety, quality, on‑time delivery and budget compliance.
• Ensure designs are CE‑compliant with the Machinery Directive and create related documentation.
• Commission control systems on site, support commissioning activities and train end users.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Automation, Control Technologies, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in controls software or automation engineering.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 60% of the time.
• Full professional proficiency in English and a valid driving licence.

Required skills

• Siemens TIA Portal for PLC development.
• HMI software design and implementation.
• Knowledge of distributed control systems such as Profinet, Profibus, AS‑i, Ethernet/IP.
• Software testing and emulation techniques.
• Use of CAD tools for design documentation.
