Engineering Manager, Big Data

About the role

The Big Data Group at Adform transforms raw internet data into valuable information stored in Vertica and HDFS. As Engineering Manager you will lead two backend micro‑service teams that deliver real‑time data for domains such as DMP, Reporting, Algo and Research. You will be responsible for people management, delivery outcomes and alignment with product and architectural road‑maps.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, mentor and develop engineers, fostering ownership and continuous learning.
• Plan, prioritize and oversee execution of backend projects to ensure timely, high‑quality delivery.
• Collaborate with product owners, architects and other teams to meet business goals.
• Own system reliability, performance and monitoring; drive incident management and root‑cause analysis.
• Continuously improve agile, CI/CD and testing processes to boost productivity.
• Communicate progress, risks and technical trade‑offs to leadership and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance on architecture and design, ensuring scalable, secure, maintainable solutions.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience managing backend or cross‑functional engineering teams.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to align engineers, product and business stakeholders.
• Experience delivering projects with agile practices and balancing short‑ and long‑term goals.
• Ability to mentor engineers and foster high performance.
• Solid understanding of engineering best practices and operational excellence.
• Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills with both technical depth and business impact.

• Kafka, Hadoop and Vertica.
