Laboratory Manager

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Laboratory Manager to take over day‑to‑day operations of our research lab. The role will focus on procurement, equipment maintenance, safety, compliance and onboarding, allowing scientists to concentrate on research.

Key responsibilities

• Manage procurement, stock levels, budgeting and supplier relationships for consumables, reagents and chemicals.
• Run maintenance and calibration schedules for pipettes, centrifuges, incubators and balances, and coordinate service contracts.
• Own lab safety and compliance, including GMO, toxic chemicals, waste disposal and safety inspections under Lithuanian and EU regulations.
• Set up new lab staff with bench space, access, PPE, training and operational SOPs.
• Act as the contact for building issues (power, HVAC, water) and support lab fit‑out and moves.

Required profile

• A degree in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemistry or a related field with hands‑on lab experience.
• Experience in lab operations, procurement or QA/QC support in research, biotech or pharma.
• Strong organisational skills, ability to handle many small tasks and follow them through without reminders.
• Fluent in Lithuanian and English.
• Nice to have: experience in an automated/high‑throughput lab, LIMS or ERP purchasing, formal occupational safety training, or managing a lab move.
