Marine Engineer – Technical Assessment (Contract)

About the role

The Marine Engineer will be based on‑site in Klaipėda on a contract basis, supporting Sokolov Marine Engineering Assessment in delivering technical evaluations and competency verification for engineering personnel serving maritime clients.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyse technical documentation related to marine systems and vessel machinery.
• Conduct structured technical interviews and practical assessments of engineers to verify knowledge and compliance.
• Collaborate with HR and crewing teams to produce clear, objective reports on technical skills, regulatory compliance and suitability for specific vessel types.
• Contribute to the improvement of assessment tools and advise on risk‑reduction strategies in crew selection.

Required profile

• Strong technical expertise in marine engineering, machinery operation and vessel maintenance.
• Experience with marine safety regulations, classification society requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Prior sea‑going experience as a Marine Engineer or shore‑based technical/superintendent role is highly beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or a closely related field.
• Professional fluency in English; additional maritime languages are a plus.
