Market Surveillance Analyst

About the role

The Market Surveillance Analyst monitors trading activity across multiple asset classes and venues to detect potential market abuse. You will investigate alerts using a recognized surveillance platform and work closely with compliance, trading, and technology teams to enhance detection capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor trading activity and review surveillance alerts for signs of manipulation such as spoofing, layering, ramping, wash trading, and marking the close.
• Perform hands‑on investigations using order‑book and trade reconstruction techniques.
• Analyze trading patterns, communications, and market data to decide on escalation, disposition, or further case development.
• Document findings with high‑quality case notes and evidence packages for internal review and regulatory inquiries.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to refine alert scenarios, improve alert quality, and support the overall surveillance program.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of surveillance procedures, logic tuning, and workflow efficiency.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with a recognized market surveillance platform (e.g., NASDAQ SMARTS, Eventus, Scila, NICE Actimize).
• Strong understanding of market abuse typologies and order‑book manipulation patterns.
• Ability to analyze trade, order, and market data to form well‑supported investigative conclusions.
• Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to manage multiple investigations in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation and professional escalation.
