Mid/Senior Backend Engineer – Fintech Money‑Movement

About the role

Our client empowers small businesses worldwide with simple fintech tools. They are seeking Mid/Senior Backend Engineers to join the Vilnius team, working on high‑scale money‑movement and ledger services that serve millions of merchants across many markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy and operate high‑availability money‑movement and balance/ledger services, ensuring uptime, correctness and cost efficiency.
• Lead delivery of major initiatives, from scoping to rollout, and make architectural decisions on APIs, data models and system trade‑offs.
• Define and monitor SLOs/SLIs, run capacity and load tests, and tune databases, streams and services for performance.
• Implement observability – metrics, tracing, structured logging, dashboards and alerts – and maintain runbooks and escalation paths.
• Own automated testing strategy, CI/CD pipelines and safe rollout patterns, while participating in on‑call rotation and incident response.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering backend services in cloud‑native, containerised environments.
• Ability to write maintainable, well‑tested code and follow CI/CD best practices.
• Strong understanding of resilient distributed system design, data consistency and latency trade‑offs.
• Experience with relational databases under load, focusing on performance and correctness.
• Clear communication with cross‑functional stakeholders and pragmatic decision‑making.
