Mid‑Senior Design Engineer – Design System (Aurora)

About the role

We are looking for a mid‑senior Design Engineer to own and evolve Aurora, our cross‑platform design system. You will translate designs from Figma into high‑quality, reusable UI components and build tooling that streamlines the workflow between design and development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Aurora component kits (ReactKit, AstroKit, AppKit) while keeping contracts consistent.
• Define visual and interaction language in both Figma and code, including variants, states and motion.
• Create internal design tooling such as Figma plugins, CLI utilities, CI checks and prototyping aids.
• Champion best practices, drive adoption of Storybook, design automation and testing within the team.
• Guide product teams in adopting Aurora, providing training and support.
• Implement accessible, performant UI components that meet WCAG AA standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and scaling design systems.
• Strong product design sense – visual hierarchy, typography, spacing and interaction.
• Ability to make independent design decisions and contribute to design, not just implementation.
• Excellent collaboration skills across design, engineering and product.

Required skills

• JavaScript (React, Astro) and modern CSS (TailwindCSS).
• Semantic HTML.
• Figma – variables, component architecture, plugin development.
• Storybook.js for component documentation and testing.
