Model-Based Systems Engineer – Medical Devices

About the role

We are seeking a Model‑Based Systems Engineer to shape the architecture and development of life‑supporting medical systems for extracorporeal blood treatment and kidney function replacement. The role spans physical systems, embedded software and safety engineering, requiring you to model behavior, define specifications, assess feasibility and analyse risks.

Key responsibilities

• Translate medical and user needs into system, product and component specifications, including hardware/software interface requirements.
• Develop physical models and perform system‑level simulations (MATLAB/Simulink) to evaluate physics, thermodynamics and hydraulics.
• Maintain and refine embedded software and algorithms in C/C++ on Linux/Windows platforms.
• Conduct concept studies, feasibility testing and risk assessments in line with ISO 14971.
• Support system integration, verification activities and peer reviews of device functions.
• Maintain design history files and technical documentation according to IEC 60601 and IEC 62304.

Required profile

• University degree in Engineering, Physics, Medical Technology, Mechatronics or related field.
• Extensive experience in system/component development, verification and requirements engineering.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python for scripting.
• Ability to understand complex physical and digital system behaviours and make sound technical decisions.
• Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
