Senior Java Software Engineer, Search Team

About the role

KAYAK, part of Booking Holdings, is a travel search engine that helps people find flights, stays, rental cars and vacation packages, and is also launching a corporate travel solution. It is looking for Senior Java backend developers to build new features and maintain its search and booking technology, which connects with over 200 travel partners, 500,000 hotels and 550 airlines. The role is based in the Kaunas office at least 3 days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable backend search capabilities focused on speed, reliability, relevance and user experience.
• Own complex technical solutions from design through operational support.
• Guide architecture discussions and maintain high engineering standards.
• Collaborate with commercial, data and engineering teams.
• Resolve production issues, improve system reliability and reduce technical debt.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to testing, observability, CI/CD and development practices.

Required profile

• Education in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience with the Java ecosystem and Spring Framework (Boot, Security).
• Fluent English.
• Previous experience with AI/LLM is a plus.

• Base pay of 3,330 to 6,660 EUR gross per month, plus about 10% yearly bonus.
