Team Lead, Software Engineer (Routing & Algorithms)

About the role

Lead the Routing team responsible for evolving a multi‑modal routing engine that powers smart urban mobility solutions. This hands‑on engineering leadership role combines people management, technical direction, and product ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor and support a small team of backend and QA engineers, fostering ownership and growth.
• Define technical direction for routing capabilities, making architectural decisions.
• Contribute hands‑on to design, code reviews, implementation and problem solving.
• Own the routing domain across discovery, design, development, deployment and monitoring.
• Partner with the Product Manager to translate client needs into a clear technical roadmap.
• Represent the routing domain in client discussions, educating on performance objectives.
• Collaborate with project managers, frontend engineers, designers and other stakeholders to deliver seamless routing features.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend and API development background.
• Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures and performance analysis.
• Proven system design skills for scalable, fault‑tolerant production systems.
• Experience operating software in production, including cloud infrastructure, observability and CI/CD.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to set direction and manage risks.
• 2+ years of experience leading engineers through coaching, feedback and delegation.
• Strong communication, prioritisation and collaboration abilities.
