Tech Lead – GenAI

About the role

We’re partnering with a major international financial organisation to recruit a hands‑on Tech Lead for a newly established GenAI team. This is an opportunity to shape a new AI platform from the ground up. You’ll own its technical direction and roadmap, influence how AI is adopted across the organisation and remain actively involved in engineering and delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Own the platform’s technical architecture, roadmap and engineering direction.
• Design and deliver production‑grade GenAI solutions, including RAG, AI agents, personas and agentic workflows.
• Remain hands‑on by writing code, reviewing pull requests and resolving complex technical challenges.
• Lead architectural decisions across frontend, backend, APIs, distributed services and cloud infrastructure.
• Establish strong standards for testing, CI/CD, observability, security and code quality.
• Collaborate with product, design, data science, security and business stakeholders.
• Support AI governance, model risk, GDPR, DORA and operational‑resilience requirements.
• Mentor engineers and represent the squad’s technical work to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Extensive commercial experience building and deploying AI or LLM‑based products into production.
• At least four years of practical experience developing AI solutions, rather than only using AI‑assisted coding tools.
• Hands‑on experience with RAG, AI agents, prompt engineering, evaluation or similar GenAI capabilities.
• Previous experience as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer or in a comparable technical leadership position.
• Broad full‑stack engineering knowledge, ideally including React, TypeScript and backend development with C#.NET, Python or similar.
• Strong AWS or Azure experience; Amazon Bedrock would be particularly valuable.
• The ability to own technical direction while remaining active in the codebase.
• Strong product thinking, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
