Frontend Engineer & UI Designer (Developer Tooling)

About the role

We are looking for a builder‑designer hybrid who makes a developer‑facing product feel premium. You will design in Figma and ship the implementation yourself using Hotwire. If you care about every 200 ms of jank and have both the taste to design and the skill to build in production, this role is for you.

Key responsibilities

• Take a feature from a Figma mockup to a merged PR, using ViewComponents, Stimulus controllers, Tailwind and Hotwire.
• Own the dashboard experience, including usage analytics, request history, billing and API keys.
• Build interactive API playgrounds where developers can fire real requests and see live JSON responses.
• Maintain the documentation and marketing site, keeping the component system coherent and fast.
• Create honest data visualisations that turn raw metrics into trustworthy charts.
• Prioritise native HTML first, Turbo Frames over client‑side state, and Tailwind over inline styles.
• Continuously clean up the JavaScript bundle, remove dead CSS and unused controllers.
• Decide what deserves polish now and what ships good‑enough, balancing quality and speed.

Required profile

• You design and build frontend that you also ship, with a strong sense of visual quality.
• Comfortable with a server‑rendered, component‑based stack (Rails + Hotwire preferred).
• Prefer native HTML before reaching for JavaScript.
• Passionate about developer tools and can articulate why a dashboard or API console is beautiful.
• Excellent written communication, able to explain design trade‑offs in PRs.
• Self‑directed, turning vague requests into concrete plans and delivering them.
