Senior Database Administrator (Oracle / SQL Server)

About the role

Ignitis Group's shared service centre, part of a renewables-focused integrated utility, is looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join its IT Infrastructure Management Team. You will maintain, optimise and secure critical database systems, working with developers, administrators and business stakeholders to keep the database infrastructure stable, scalable and ready for growth.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Oracle Database and/or Microsoft SQL Server databases and infrastructure, ensuring high availability, reliability and security
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise database performance, including queries, execution plans, indexing and resource utilisation
• Manage backup, recovery, high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Oracle RAC/Data Guard and/or SQL Server Always On
• Prepare requirements for database infrastructure solutions, support IT projects, coordinate integrations and work with vendors
• Mentor team members, share knowledge and best practices and help improve database operations

Required profile

• Strong experience administering Oracle Database and/or Microsoft SQL Server, preferably in enterprise environments
• Strong experience with high availability, clustering and disaster recovery, such as Oracle RAC/Data Guard and SQL Server Always On Availability Groups
• Strong troubleshooting skills, including query optimisation, execution plans, indexing and resource usage
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical solutions and handle critical situations so that database services stay up

Required skills

• Backup, restore and recovery processes and database performance tuning
• Understanding of operating systems, networking fundamentals, database security, authentication, permissions, encryption and access management
• PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB or other database technologies, and cloud database technologies, are an advantage
