Backend Software Engineer (Java/AWS)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer (Java mainly) with hands‑on AWS experience to join the Wallee Group. You will design, build and operate backend services end‑to‑end, from architecture discussions to deployment and monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java backend services running on AWS.
• Build and optimise data processing and reporting pipelines handling large datasets.
• Work with AWS services such as S3, Athena, Lambda, SQS, Redshift and RDS to create scalable, cost‑efficient solutions.
• Own services in production: monitoring, alerting, performance tuning and incident response.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams across the tribe to deliver merchant‑focused features.

Required profile

• Solid professional experience in Java backend development (Spring, Quarkus or similar).
• Hands‑on experience building and running workloads on AWS.
• Good understanding of relational databases and SQL (PostgreSQL a plus).
• Experience with distributed systems, message queues or batch/stream data processing.
• Fluent English and a university degree in Computer Science or related field.
