C&I Automation Engineer – Renewable Energy Projects

About the role

Ignitis Renewables is looking for a C&I Automation Engineer to support the design, implementation and operation of automation, control and monitoring systems across wind, solar, battery storage and emerging hydrogen projects. You will work closely with contractors, OEMs, TSOs, DSOs and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Implement substation automation, control, communication and monitoring systems, ensuring grid‑compliance and renewable asset integration.
• Provide technical assistance during project design, construction, commissioning and testing, including FAT and SAT activities.
• Support operations and maintenance by troubleshooting automation, communication and control issues, and contributing to root‑cause analysis and performance optimisation.
• Maintain relationships with OEMs, EPC contractors, system integrators and utilities to guarantee delivery according to standards and cybersecurity requirements.
• Review automation architectures, signal lists, control philosophies and technical documentation for compliance with project and grid connection conditions.

Required profile

• Solid knowledge and hands‑on experience in electrical substation automation and renewable energy control systems.
• Familiarity with power‑plant control, SCADA, communication networks, grid compliance and OT‑cybersecurity.
• Experience with wind, solar PV, battery energy storage, hybrid and emerging Power‑to‑X technologies.
• Ability to collaborate with contractors, OEMs, TSOs, DSOs and consultants throughout project phases.
