Damage Estimator & Claims Specialist

About the role

HMD Trucking is looking for an experienced Claims & Damage Estimator to prepare accurate truck and trailer damage estimates from photographs and documentation, review estimates from third-party repair facilities and adjusters, and help handle trucking claims. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. US Central time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare damage estimates for trucks and trailers from photos, accident reports and supporting documents
• Review third-party repair estimates, supplements and invoices to check labor, parts, repair procedures and costs
• Spot inaccurate, excessive or unnecessary charges and recommend adjustments
• Assess damage from photos and review claim documentation
• Communicate with repair facilities, insurance carriers, adjusters, vendors and internal departments
• Help with property damage and vehicle claims from first report to resolution

Required profile

• Professional experience preparing truck and trailer damage estimates
• Experience reviewing and negotiating third-party repair estimates
• Claims handling or insurance industry experience
• Strong understanding of vehicle repair processes, labor, parts and damage assessment
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work independently and manage several claims at once

Required skills

• Estimating software such as Adjust Rite is a plus
• Ability to assess damage from photos and documentation
