Engineering Manager

About the role

As an Engineering Manager at Tide, you will lead a cross‑functional, domain‑aligned full‑stack team that owns end‑to‑end products supporting small‑business banking, payments and operational tooling. You will be empowered to make architectural decisions, drive engineering excellence and shape the future of Tide’s finance platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and directly manage a cross‑functional team, partnering with a Product Manager as the Product Engineering Duo.
• Own delivery quality, stability, timelines and dependencies while ensuring tech excellence and architecture within the team’s scope.
• Drive continuous improvement of team performance measured by DORA metrics and foster engineers’ growth and wellbeing.
• Stay hands‑on, balancing design, coding and coaching, and serve as the go‑to advisor for complex technical challenges.

Required profile

• Extensive experience building server‑side applications, especially with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Proven track record of running microservices, implementing and consuming RESTful APIs, and delivering scalable cloud‑native solutions.
• Strong background in secure, well‑tested, well‑documented software and full lifecycle ownership.
• Experience leading and directly managing engineering teams in an agile environment.
