Founding Engineer (Travel Product)
Kiloverse · Vilnius
Job description
About the role
We are a fast‑scaling travel startup building Marlow AI, an AI‑assisted trip‑planning platform that hands off to human advisors for final booking. As a Founding Engineer you will be one of the first technical hires, shaping the architecture and delivering end‑to‑end features that power both traveler‑facing and advisor‑facing experiences.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement full‑stack features from database schema through server functions, UI/UX, event tracking and production deployment.
- Develop and evolve Postgres schemas using Supabase, including Row‑Level Security policies and GRANTs.
- Integrate and maintain third‑party APIs for flights (Kiwi Tequila), hotels (Hotelston SOAP), payments (Primer, PayPal Marketplace) and subscriptions/leads (Kilo Launchpad), handling auth, webhooks and signature verification.
- Build LLM‑powered tooling within the orchestration layer, working with OpenAI, Anthropic and OpenRouter.
- Instrument events against a unified schema (view_item, add_to_cart, initiate_checkout, add_payment_info, payment_complete) to inform product and growth decisions.
- Deploy on Cloudflare Workers, making clear decisions about SSR vs. client rendering in TanStack Start.
- Write tests, dog‑food AI agents, and take ownership of ambiguous problems in a one‑engineer‑per‑feature environment.
Required profile
- 3–7 years of experience shipping production web applications, including at least one early‑stage startup (seed/Series A/B) as an early hire.
- Comfortable being the sole engineer on a feature, handling everything from DB migration to UI without external help.
- Hands‑on experience with Supabase, Postgres RLS, or pgvector and a clear understanding of why RLS + GRANT is essential.
- Native proficiency in TypeScript.
