IT Chapter Lead - Data Engineering

About the role

Join our Risk and Compliance Tribe as an IT Chapter Lead where you will modernise data engineering capabilities while developing a skilled team. This dual role combines technical leadership with people management, giving you the opportunity to shape both our data solutions and the careers of experienced engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a functional team of Data Engineers across all seniority levels.
• Act as Tech Lead in delivery squads, contributing to solution design and implementation.
• Guide technical decisions around ETL, data modelling, and platform architecture.
• Mentor engineers in technical skills, delivery practices, and career development.
• Lead the Data Engineering Guild to define standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of data flows, platforms, and engineering practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Tech Lead with strong ETL expertise.
• Advanced skills in SQL, Python, and PySpark for scalable data solutions.
• Experience with modern data platforms, preferably Databricks or AWS.
• Ability to lead technical direction while maintaining active involvement.
• Experience with or motivation for line management, including performance development.
• Genuine interest in coaching and mentoring engineers at different career stages.
• Strong communication skills in English for technical and business collaboration.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD practices, and automated testing is a valuable addition.
