Junior Financial Controller (Baltics)

About the role

AstraZeneca is recruiting a Junior Financial Controller for its Baltics function, covering Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The role offers exposure to financial reporting, accounting, purchase-to-pay, tax, audit and financial controls, working alongside the Financial Controller, CFO, business teams, shared services and external partners. It suits people at the start of their finance career who want to learn, develop and take ownership of finance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Own assigned activities in month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close, and prepare balance sheet reconciliations for assigned areas.
• Review financial information and supporting documentation, escalating discrepancies or incorrect postings.
• Contribute to statutory reporting, audits and internal financial controls, and help investigate issues with colleagues.
• Resolve routine invoice, payment, purchase order and goods receipt queries, and follow up on open purchase orders and supplier balances.
• As experience grows, take on VAT and corporate income tax, treasury and payments, IFRS 16, audit and statutory reporting, and internal financial controls.
• Identify process improvements, explore automation, analytics and AI tools, and take part in Baltic, regional and global finance initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related subject.
• Some initial experience in finance, accounting, audit, shared services or controlling; around 1-3 years of relevant experience, or recent graduates with meaningful internship or placement experience.
• Good foundation in accounting principles and some familiarity with accounts payable, invoices, purchase orders or period-end activities.
• Fluency in English; good organisational skills and a proactive, ownership-driven approach.

Required skills

• Practical Excel, including detailed data, lookups and pivot tables.
• Ability to take ownership of tasks, manage deadlines and follow them through to completion.
