Mid-level Data Engineer (SQL, Snowflake)

About the role

OAG is seeking a mid‑level Data Engineer with strong SQL expertise to design, build, and maintain reliable data products across its aviation data platform. You will join a back‑end engineering team, quickly learn the complex domain, and translate detailed business rules into robust data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Write and maintain clear SQL stored procedures, functions, and views, including transformations of semi‑structured JSON.
• Build and support reliable data pipelines, transformations, and data models in Snowflake.
• Create automated data quality checks, monitor failures, and investigate data issues.
• Improve query performance and resource usage, applying best practices and senior‑engineer guidance.
• Follow security, testing, and deployment standards, contribute to releases, and keep documentation up to date.

Required profile

• Strong practical SQL skills (joins, aggregations, CTEs, window functions, troubleshooting).
• Hands‑on experience building and supporting production data solutions.
• Understanding of data pipelines, ELT patterns, data quality, and transformation concepts.
• Ability to investigate and optimise query performance and reliability.
• Experience with access control, data security, and handling sensitive data.
• Familiarity with version control, code review, and automated testing.
• Quick learner of complex business domains and clear communicator.
