Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

SME Bank is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its legal team. You will provide expert legal advice to business units and senior management, ensuring compliance with banking regulations and supporting the development of new banking products.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on banking operations and regulatory matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts to protect the bank’s interests.
• Develop and update internal policies and procedures.
• Support interactions with regulatory authorities such as the Bank of Lithuania.
• Coordinate and manage external counsel for complex issues.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks across bank processes.
• Mentor junior members of the legal team.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in law.
• Minimum 5 years of legal experience, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of banking law, regulatory requirements, and corporate law.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Lithuanian and English.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
