Anti-Bot Engineer

About the role

SearchApi is seeking an engineer obsessed with breaking through anti‑bot systems such as Cloudflare, Akamai, DataDome and PerimeterX. You will work on cutting‑edge evasion techniques that keep our real‑time SERP API reliable for Fortune 500 customers.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design and implement anti‑bot evasion methods, including fingerprint spoofing and TLS/QUIC manipulation.
• Reverse‑engineer detection mechanisms, debug TLS handshakes, and push the QUIC frontier.
• Optimize Playwright/Puppeteer configurations for stealth and scale headless browsers in containers.
• Analyze network traffic with tools like Wireshark or Burp Suite to uncover detection vectors.
• Build internal testing tools, document findings and share knowledge across the team.

Required profile

• Passionate about evasion and have personal projects or open‑source contributions in this space.
• Hacker mindset with strong reverse‑engineering skills.
• Persistent, self‑directed and able to work without detailed specifications.
• Excellent written English and ability to document technical findings clearly.
• BSc or higher in Computer Science or equivalent technical field.

Required skills

• Deep experience with Playwright, Puppeteer or Selenium internals.
• Proficiency in Ruby, Node.js, Python for tooling.
• Knowledge of browser internals (Chromium, Firefox) and fingerprinting techniques.
• Network traffic analysis using Wireshark, Burp Suite, Proxyman or similar.
• TLS and protocol fingerprinting (JA3, JA4, HTTP/2, HTTP/3, QUIC).
• Experience running headless browsers at scale on AWS infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails for internal tools is a plus.
