Staff Product Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

About the role

We are looking for a senior Ruby on Rails engineer to become the technical backbone of our product. You’ll own the hardest PRs, raise the bar for the entire codebase, and eventually take technical load off the CEO. This is a hands‑on, high‑trust position for someone who can ship production code across every part of the product.

Key responsibilities

• Own the hardest PRs, including complex features, performance‑critical code, and tricky refactors.
• Build and maintain enterprise features such as SAML, SCIM, audit logs, and permissions.
• Develop billing and payment systems with Stripe integrations and usage‑based billing.
• Design and ship frontend UI using TailwindUI, ensuring clean and functional interfaces.
• Debug and optimise performance through memory profiling, CPU profiling, and query optimisation.
• Review other engineers’ PRs, mentor through code review, and raise code quality standards.

Required profile

• Many years of Ruby on Rails experience building and shipping production applications.
• Proven track record with Stripe billing, subscriptions, and webhooks.
• Product‑thinking mindset, able to consider customer needs and business impact.
• Strong design sense for clean, functional UI using TailwindCSS.
• Security‑minded with understanding of authentication, authorization, and common vulnerabilities.
• Up‑to‑date with Rails, Ruby, and emerging AI tools.
• Experience debugging performance issues, including memory and query optimisation.
• Excellent written communication for PRs, documentation, and code comments.
• Self‑directed, fluent in English, and holds a BSc or higher in Computer Science or equivalent.
