Associate Data Engineer

About the role

As an Associate Data Engineer you will help build and maintain web‑crawling solutions that collect high‑quality data from websites. You will work with modern web technologies, follow ethical scraping practices, and collaborate with Research, Data Science, and Technology teams.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze websites and determine the most effective data extraction approach.
• Build, maintain, and optimise automated web‑crawling scripts.
• Troubleshoot and enhance crawler performance to ensure reliable data collection.
• Deliver accurate, high‑quality data while following established standards.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Researchers, Industry Experts, and Technology teams.
• Conduct website feasibility assessments for new projects and provide guidance on web‑scraping approaches.

Required profile

• Understanding of website structures, functionality, and web‑scraping concepts.
• Knowledge of JavaScript, Node.js, HTML, CSS, jQuery and basic data structures.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and learn new technologies quickly.
• Good communication skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
• Additional experience with Python, SQL, complex crawling solutions and independent project delivery is preferred.
