Chief Risk & Controls Officer – Control Testing

About the role

Join Danske Bank’s Business Controls and Product Management (BCPM) team as a Chief Risk & Controls Officer focused on control testing. You will play a pivotal part in strengthening 1st Line of Defence controls, ensuring they are well‑designed, effectively operated, and continuously improved.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee comprehensive control testing across Operational and Data Risk areas, designing robust test scripts and setting appropriate test frequencies.
• Apply sound testing methodology and documentation standards to produce high‑quality test results.
• Analyse test outcomes, assess control ratings, and deliver clear insights highlighting strengths and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with 1st, 2nd and 3rd Line stakeholders to drive enhancements in control design, operating effectiveness, and underlying processes.
• Own selected control‑ownership areas, championing continuous improvement and fostering a culture of transparent risk management.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in control testing, audit, compliance testing, risk assurance or control operations.
• Proven ability to assess control design, challenge constructively, identify root causes and recommend practical enhancements.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across multiple lines of defence.
• Methodical, analytical mindset with a focus on delivering value‑adding insights.
