Remote Data Specialist

About the role

IMPACT BRANDS, a health and wellness company with seven brands, is hiring a remote Data Specialist. The role builds and maintains data models in the company warehouse, keeps marketing and sales pipelines healthy, and answers questions from Media Buying, Finance and Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain models in the warehouse using BigQuery, Dataform and dbt, writing and reviewing them, committing changes and running releases.
• Keep marketing and sales data pipelines healthy, including platform connectors, so new ad accounts and products land correctly.
• Own product and brand mapping and fix mismatches at the source.
• Investigate discrepancies across layers, from ad platforms and raw tables to transformed models and charts.
• Build and maintain reporting in Looker Studio, including data sources, calculated fields and access.
• Build data quality checks and alerts so missing or broken data is caught early.
• Reconcile numbers against external systems and partners and document metric definitions such as active subscription, active customer and churn.
• Answer questions from Media Buying, Finance and Operations in plain language, backed by a query.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Science or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and persistence in tracing numbers back to their source.
• Ability to explain findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Excellent SQL, including joins and window functions, and troubleshooting queries.
• Hands-on knowledge of cloud data warehouses, preferably BigQuery.
• Familiarity with dbt and Dataform, including Git-based workflows.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, including dimensional modeling and reusable metric definitions.
• Proficiency with BI tools such as Looker Studio or Power BI.
• Exposure to marketing or e-commerce data, and knowledge of data quality checks and alerting, are strong advantages.
