Senior Software Engineer - AI Enablement Finance

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and implementation of an AI‑native finance operating system for Kraken’s Global Finance team. The role combines immediate automation delivery with long‑term architectural redesign of finance processes across a regulated crypto exchange.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and map current finance operations, including close, reconciliations, treasury, reporting, controls validation and audit preparation.
• Identify manual bottlenecks and integration failures across systems such as NetSuite, BlackLine, Kyriba, Fireblocks and Lukka.
• Benchmark existing processes against best‑in‑class and emerging AI capabilities to create a prioritized automation roadmap.
• Collaborate with accounting, FP&A, treasury and finance operations teams to translate pain points into actionable automation requirements.
• Design the long‑term architecture for an agentic, AI‑driven finance platform, defining data pipelines, system interfaces and control frameworks.
• Evaluate the current finance technology stack from first principles and propose simplifications to support scalable, auditable automation.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior software engineer building complex, regulated financial systems.
• Strong understanding of finance operations, regulatory reporting and audit requirements (SOX, security, compliance).
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with finance, accounting and treasury stakeholders.
