Structural Engineer – Timber Frame & Modular Buildings

About the role

Nordroof is seeking a Structural Engineer specialized in timber‑frame and modular construction. The position is full‑time, hybrid, based in Marijampolės, Lithuania, with the flexibility to work partly from home. You will create and develop technical drawings and construction designs for modular houses while ensuring compliance with structural and safety standards across European markets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and develop detailed technical drawings and construction designs using CAD/BIM tools.
• Ensure all designs meet structural, safety, and European building standards.
• Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and production teams to optimise designs for manufacturing efficiency.
• Adapt solutions to client requirements and varying market regulations.
• Review and update project documentation throughout the design and construction phases.
• Perform basic load‑bearing and stability calculations for timber and modular structures.
• Provide technical support during production and on‑site installation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and innovative, sustainable modular solutions.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in technical drawing and construction design using CAD or BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
• Knowledge of structural design principles for timber or modular construction, including basic load‑bearing calculations.
• Ability to read, interpret, and prepare technical documentation, drawings, and specifications for manufacturing and installation.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams such as architects, engineers, and production staff.
• Attention to detail, problem‑solving mindset, and ability to optimise designs for cost, efficiency, and quality.
• Relevant technical education in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture, or a related field.
• Comfortable working in a hybrid setup with minimal supervision.
• Fluent communication skills in Lithuanian and English; additional European languages are a plus.
• Experience in modular or prefabricated construction and familiarity with European building standards is beneficial.
