General Counsel

About the role

Puffy, a nine‑figure D2C brand and top‑5 US mattress company, is seeking a General Counsel to lead its in‑house legal function. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee consumer‑facing compliance, family‑office fund documentation, cross‑border asset structuring, and external counsel relationships. The position is fully remote with the option to work from the Dubai office.

Key responsibilities

• Design and embed a Monthly Legal Exposure Audit into the business operating rhythm.
• Conduct Quarterly Compliance Sweeps of checkout flows, terms of service, arbitration clauses, pricing, and FTC endorsement guidelines.
• Negotiate hedge‑fund subscription agreements, side letters, and LP terms prior to capital deployment.
• Establish Quarterly Fund Documentation Reviews covering subscriptions, custody arrangements, loan covenants, and counterparty protocols.
• Implement investment security controls such as authorized account whitelists and multi‑party verification.
• Structure asset‑protection mechanisms across multiple international jurisdictions.
• Identify and surface at least five material legal risks within the first 90 days.

Required profile

• Minimum 8‑10 years of experience in corporate, securities, and consumer‑facing legal matters.
• Proven track record managing legal functions for high‑growth, multi‑jurisdictional organizations.
• Experience with family‑office investments, hedge‑fund documentation, and cross‑border structuring.
• Direct reporting experience to senior executives, preferably CEOs.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of US federal and state consumer protection law, FTC regulations, and arbitration standards.
• Expertise in hedge‑fund subscription agreements, LP terms, and custody protocols.
• Strong ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts.
• Proficiency in building compliance audit frameworks and risk‑identification processes.
