Mechanical Design Project Engineer - Conveyor Systems

About the role

Dematic, a global leader in intelligent intralogistics and material handling solutions, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Project Engineer in Lithuania. You will design and deliver conveyor technology for container and light unit load applications, from standard belt and roller systems to complex machinery, working cross-functionally with project delivery, controls, structural engineering, compliance, manufacturing and installation teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project-specific approval layouts and turn project scopes into detailed system concepts and layouts.
• Review material flow, define special designs and outline ergonomic workspaces.
• Conduct mechanical safety assessments and coordinate with CE Compliance teams on risk assessments and site safety inspections.
• Design and plan escape, transport and maintenance access routes.
• Collaborate with structural, installation and controls teams and provide technical expertise during customer meetings and engineering reviews.
• Produce mechanical layouts, specifications, installation drawings and technical documentation, including BOMs, SAP requisitions and controls engineering data lists.
• Define conveyor components such as drives, belts, rollers, guides and platforms.
• Provide remote and on-site engineering support during installation and ensure thorough technical handovers to installation and commissioning teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a focus on application engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and project engineering, ideally in a complex systems or industrial environment.
• Ability to own engineering designs and technical decisions, with strong communication, problem-solving and a methodical approach.
• Full working proficiency in English and willingness to travel internationally for short, occasional trips (up to 10%).

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD and experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD tools.
• Bonus points for experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, Navisworks, SAP or previous work in intralogistics or material handling.
