Senior Bioinformatics Scientist – Data Analysis

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Senior Scientist to join its bioinformatics team at the Vilnius site. You will work on developing and improving bioinformatics solutions for microarray‑based products, collaborating closely with molecular biology specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with molecular biology experts to define experimental goals and choose appropriate analysis strategies.
• Analyze complex biological and experimental datasets and draw scientific conclusions.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance bioinformatics pipelines and automated analysis workflows.
• Automate data‑analysis activities to increase efficiency and reliability.
• Identify root causes of data or method issues and propose corrective actions.
• Interpret results, formulate hypotheses, and recommend next steps.
• Plan and execute bioinformatics and data‑analysis projects independently.
• Contribute to product and method development, optimization, and problem solving.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and traceability.
• Support process digitalisation and workflow automation initiatives.

Required profile

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science or related field, or a Master’s degree with substantial practical experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Python programming, including data‑analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, SciPy).
• Experience building and maintaining bioinformatics or data‑analysis pipelines.
• Proficiency in Linux environments.
• SQL query skills.
• Version control using Git.
• Data visualization and interpretation expertise.
