Senior Platform Engineer – Virtualization

About the role

Join the IT Infrastructure and Operations division of Ignitis Group as a Senior Platform Engineer. You will lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of highly available virtualized environments, ensuring the reliability and security of critical IT services.

Key responsibilities

• Apply SRE and automation best practices to guarantee high reliability, availability, and resilience of IT infrastructure.
• Design, deploy, and manage virtualized platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper‑V) across on‑premises and hybrid environments.
• Administer Linux, Windows Server, and physical server hardware, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, firmware updates, and component replacement.
• Manage enterprise storage and networking technologies such as SAN/NAS, iSCSI, and VLAN‑based networks.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to improve incident response and service reliability.
• Support Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity processes to meet RTO/RPO objectives.
• Apply infrastructure security controls in line with ISO 27001, NIST, NIS2, and related frameworks.
• Collaborate with application, security, and operations teams, maintain technical documentation, and contribute to incident reviews.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in IT infrastructure, system administration, platform engineering, or IT operations.
• Proven experience with enterprise virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper‑V), including clustering and lifecycle management.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows Server administration and physical server hardware.
• Experience with SAN/NAS, iSCSI, VLAN networking, and monitoring/logging tools.
• Understanding of Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, and security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, NIS2).
• Proficiency in scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible) and familiarity with ITIL change management.
