Staff/Principal Software Engineer – AI Applications

About the role

The Applications team builds the customer‑facing components of Axelera AI’s Voyager SDK, enabling low‑code model deployment, pipeline development and analytics on edge devices. We are looking for a technically outstanding engineer to own a major area of the Applications stack at a Staff/Principal level, shaping strategy and delivering high‑performance AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the technical roadmap for model deployment, pipeline development and application integration within the Voyager SDK.
• Set direction for image pre/post‑processing operators, decoders and reusable architectures, collaborating with the compiler team on complex compilation challenges.
• Integrate industry‑standard model frameworks, creating libraries for low‑code and no‑code deployment.
• Design company‑wide metadata representations for common model types and maintain evaluation/rendering libraries.
• Ensure end‑to‑end pipeline latency and throughput across heterogeneous hardware, building profiling tools to diagnose performance bottlenecks.
• Represent the Applications team to business stakeholders, mentor engineers and drive documentation standards.

Required profile

• 8+ years of hands‑on experience in semiconductor and/or AI industries, with a BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proven ability to navigate deep ambiguity, make sound technical judgments and deliver outcomes without clear playbooks.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with senior technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar of a team.

Required skills

• Edge deployment frameworks: OpenVINO, TensorRT.
• GPU computing APIs: OpenCL, Vulkan.
• Model optimisation techniques: quantization, compression, pruning.
• AI application development in Python, with PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Proficiency in Python and C++.
• Linux development and agile tools (Jira, Git, GitHub).
• Familiarity with MLIR and ONNX Runtime is a plus.
