Founding Engineer (Travel Product)

About the role

We are a fast‑scaling travel startup building Marlow AI, an AI‑assisted trip‑planning platform that hands off to human advisors for final booking. As a Founding Engineer you will own features from database schema to UI and analytics, shaping the core architecture of our product.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and ship end‑to‑end features: schema design, server functions, UI/UX, event tracking, and production deployment.
• Develop using React 19, TanStack Start, Supabase (Postgres + RLS), and Cloudflare Workers.
• Integrate and maintain third‑party APIs for flights (Kiwi Tequila), hotels (Hotelston SOAP), payments (Primer, PayPal Marketplace), and subscriptions/leads (Kilo Launchpad), handling auth, webhooks, and signatures.
• Build LLM‑powered tooling across OpenAI, Anthropic, and OpenRouter, including tool‑calling, streaming, and prompt iteration.
• Instrument events (view_item, add_to_cart, initiate_checkout, etc.) to inform product and growth decisions.
• Deploy on Cloudflare’s edge runtime, deciding SSR vs. client boundaries.
• Write tests, dog‑food AI agents, and resolve ambiguous problems independently.
• Contribute to technical direction and future engineering team structure.

Required profile

• 3–7 years of experience shipping production web apps, including at least one early‑stage startup (seed/Series A/B) as an early hire.
• Comfortable being the sole engineer on a feature from DB migration to UI.
• Hands‑on experience with Supabase, Postgres RLS, or pgvector and a deep understanding of RLS + GRANT security.
• Native proficiency in TypeScript.
• Experience with at least one meta‑framework such as Next.js.
