Senior Backend Engineer (CTO Team) - Vilnius

About the role

Wix is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer for its CTO Team in Vilnius, within the Backend Engineering Guild. The role sits at the heart of Wix's technical operations, working closely with cross-functional teams and delivering solutions that support the company's strategic goals. The team consists of seven experienced developers working in small, collaborative groups.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with diverse teams, adapting to their processes and respecting established workflows
• Deliver innovative solutions while supporting teams in achieving their goals
• Take a hands-on approach with Java and Node.js to develop robust backend services
• Plan, design, build and maintain systems, working with Wix developers to improve their experience and remove velocity blockers

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience as a backend developer
• A team player who values ownership and accountability and supports colleagues
• Ability to move smoothly between platforms and technical environments
• Commitment to consistent, timely results and a track record of meeting high-quality standards
• Enthusiasm for solving critical business problems and coming up with unconventional solutions

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with Java and Node.js
• In-depth understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and SOLID principles
• Debugging and investigating production issues, including recognizing and addressing bad code
• Advantage: SQL and NoSQL databases, gRPC and Protobuf, and Scala or other functional and modern languages
