Senior PHP Developer (Symfony)

About the role

Join the development team to support the growth of a fintech product. As a Senior PHP Developer you will design, build and scale high‑performance backend systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend systems using PHP 8.x and Symfony (or Laravel).
• Work with legacy and modern codebases, ensuring stability and performance.
• Architect robust, secure solutions aligned with fintech standards and build REST APIs with proper versioning.
• Optimize MySQL/MariaDB performance, including query tuning and schema design.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Docker‑based containerised environments.
• Ensure code quality through unit, integration and feature tests, code reviews and SOLID principles.
• Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks and apply optimisations.
• Enforce security best practices (OWASP, GDPR) and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Expert knowledge of PHP 8.x and modern development practices.
• Extensive experience with Symfony or Laravel.
• Strong MySQL/MariaDB expertise, including optimisation and schema design.
• Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub preferred) and Docker.
• Experience with PHPUnit and test strategy definition.
• Comfortable working in Linux/CLI environments and managing dependencies with Composer.
